Dr Joana Vassilopoulou, Co-Founder and Partner

BIO

Olivia has been trained as a psychologist at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. After completing her MSc studies at the London School of Economics she pursued her PhD on Organizational Psychology at the University of Surrey. Dr Kyriakidou has served as academic faculty in British and Greek Universities for more than 20 years teaching at the graduate, executive and undergraduate levels. Her current research interests are focused on the field of equality, diversity, and inclusion at work with a special interest on the remaking of the contemporary world of world and employment due to artificial intelligence, technology, and automation. She analyses datasets with people and business data to help HR professionals address people and business challenges and improve the employee experience and wellbeing.

Her most recent research project involves the impact of the growing diffusion of automation and artificial intelligence on women in the workplace. The project aims to assist business and policy leaders understand the forces transforming current employment and prepare for the future of work. Dr Kyriakidou has been widely published at a number of international journals, such as Organization Studies, Millbank Quarterly, Social Science and Medicine, and Work, Employment and Society and has presented her work at a number of prestigious international conferences. Her book titled “Diffusion of innovations in health service organizations: A systematic literature review” has won the international EHMA Baxter Award.

Joana as a certified trainer in Managing Gender and Diversity, she has developed and delivered Diversity and Inclusion trainings for organizations such as the European Central Bank, Eastman Chemicals, ING Bank, FedEx, in countries such as, Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom, France and the United Arab Emirates. Moreover, Joana has experience in conducting organisational gender equality audits as well as developing organisational gender equality plans. She has cooperated with a number of organisations, such as the European Network against Racism (ENAR) or the platform for diversity charters & CSR Europe, European commission’s directorate general for justice & consumers.

Joana has a PhD from the University of East Anglia, UK, for which she studied the organisational habitus of managing diversity in the context of Germany. She trained as a Sociologist at the University Duisburg-Essen, Germany. She has held academic positions for nearly 20 years in Germany, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, France, and Austria. All her work focuses on Diversity and Inclusion. Joana has an established academic and professional record in the field of Diversity and Inclusion, is frequently invited to deliver talks and has organized and hosted the international Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) conferences. Joana has published books, as well as in edited collections and journals such as Work Employment and Society, the European Journal of Industrial Relations, International Business Review the International Journal of Human Resource Management and the Human Resource Management journal.
